A roleplaying plugin for ChatGPT

This is a full template for a  ChatGPT role-playing game.

WorldWeaver: The Dream Engine turns ChatGPT into a full-featured RPG engine—stats, rolls, choices, and character creation. But the real strength is in the storytelling. Before long, you're emotionally invested in a made-up waifu and plotting revenge against a guy who didn't exist twenty minutes ago.

Think of this as a game cartridge that you insert into your ChatGPT console.  You turn the power on and it brings up the title screen.  Press start to begin... Literally.  You just upload my template document and say "start," and the AI takes over and guides you through the entire process of creating exactly the RPG experience you want.  If you've never used ChatGPT like this before... believe me, you're missing out.  It's incredible.

NOTE:  An active paid subscription to ChatGPT.com, though not technically necessary, is highly recommended.  The 'free' version of ChatGPT has an inferior AI model that will make more mistakes and take way longer to generate responses.

Also note: Other AI models which support document uploads can work as well.  One example is Toolsaday.com, which I am also subscribed to, and it has also interpreted my template with astounding success.  Other AI text models with upload tools may also work.

### 🎮 What Is This, exactly?

A modular RPG framework that turns ChatGPT into a fully functional Game Master.

This is a plug-and-play RPG engine built entirely in natural language and designed for use with ChatGPT. It provides a complete, guided roleplaying experience—character creation, stats, dice mechanics, survival systems, and narrative-driven progression—across any universe or genre. The system enforces structure but leaves room for player freedom, improvisation, and immersive storytelling. Think of it as giving ChatGPT a rulebook, a script, and some dice—and letting it run your next tabletop adventure.

### 🧙‍♂️ Character Creation

Step-by-step creation of a fully fleshed-out RPG character.

Players are guided through a multi-stage setup: choosing race, class, backstory, faction, companions, quirks, and more. Each section is handled one at a time and checked off visually. You can select from options, write freeform, or hit "randomize" at any point. The end result is a detailed, unique character with both mechanical structure and narrative depth.

### 📊 Stat System

A flexible 1–10 scale system built around personality and playstyle.

All core stats (like Strength, Charisma, Perception, etc.) range from 1 to 10. You can roll them randomly, generate them through a background questionnaire, or describe your character and let ChatGPT assign fitting values. At least one strength and one weakness are guaranteed, keeping things balanced and interesting. Karma and Luck systems add extra flavor.

### 🎲 Dice Rolls & Game Mechanics

A custom roll system with cinematic consequences and situational modifiers.

The core formula is: D20 + Primary Stat + (Secondary Stat ÷ 2). Success isn’t binary—rolls are interpreted as critical fails, partial wins, or triumphant successes. Natural 1s and 20s trigger wild results. Environmental factors, character conditions, and context all influence the outcome. It’s not just math—it’s storytelling with tension and impact.

### 🥖 Survival Mechanics (Optional)

Add tension with hunger, thirst, and fatigue systems.

You can toggle survival rules on or off. If enabled, your character will have to eat, drink, and rest—or suffer stat penalties and eventually collapse. These conditions are handled narratively, with immersive cues instead of spreadsheet micromanagement. It’s there if you want that extra layer of realism.

### 🕳️ Paradox Detection Mode (Optional)

A high-stakes honesty mode that watches for cheaters—and judges them.

Turn this on if you want your choices to be final. No regenerating rolls. No retconning decisions. If you cheat, in-universe entities may intervene, punish you, or just... notice. In return, you get bonus Karma, extra Luck, and occasional cosmic recognition. It’s not mandatory—but it adds bite.

### 🎭 Narrative Customization

Choose the storytelling style that suits your mood.

You pick both verbosity (short, default, or immersive) and tone (dramatic, lighthearted, spooky, emotional, etc.). The AI adapts accordingly—whether you want something fast and gamey or a full novel unfolding around you. You can even see tone/style samples before choosing.

### 🌌 Universe Support

Play in any world—real, fictional, or entirely made up.

You can set your game in nearly any universe: Skyrim, Star Wars, Fallout, The Witcher, etc. There’s also support for historical fiction (with optional timeline changes), or fully AI-generated settings based on a single word. Every universe adjusts the character prompts and rules to stay lore-appropriate.

### 💾 Saving & Session Management

Progress can be saved if you treat it like an NES cartridge.

ChatGPT can’t remember anything between chats. (If you don't keep your chat session 'alive' in the chat sidebar, your character will be lost.) So when you finish a session, copy/paste the whole conversation into a .txt or .md file to preserve your progress. There’s even a retro-style warning included in-game: “Hold RESET while turning the power off.” As long as your chat is still open in the sidebar, your progress is intact—but don’t count on it forever.
